could this be...the final blog??!

Discuss the changes you notice in your understanding and skill with the technical resources and concepts we have used in class.
So if you look back to my first blog you will notice that I had never been very 'lucky' with computers. After struggling with downloading programs and figuring out how things really work I have come to understand that computers are really just machines and it matters how 'good' i am at using them, not so much luck.
I think I will you publisher the most in the class room because I want to teach buisness and I have to meet literacy compencies as well as the business understandings. Next I think I would use adobe the most (it happens to be my favorite tool) because the students will need to create power points and product images and adobe would be a perect tool! Inaddition to ehancing the projects the adobe would help me cover my technology requirements in the classroom.
The movie maker projects were a blast! I feel the program was very basic (perfect for me as a beginner) but I also feel I did not learned everything that it could offer and I would like to research further into the program before teaching it. While using this program I could us the adobe shop photos to help create one giant project for the students to accomplish.
Over all I feel I have learned alot of information. I had trouble downloading the Youtubes from the sites but from that expericance I learned alot about converters and where to find them for free :)

Discuss ideas you have for how you might use video production professionally.
I am really into the area of advertising and I think video is an awesome way to grab people's attention and it is a versitle multi-media tool. A video can be used as a selling tool or an educational/awareness tool. For school I have had to watch alot of video's informing me of the condiditons of inner city schools or non-profit organizations work. The video's help create awareness and draw in people to help with situations, recycle or even try to improve a particular situation. Video's are a great from of communication by educating people, doing video conferences with people half way around the world or by simply advertising an idea/product.

Explain the video you plan to make. Include (but don’t limit it to) discussion of what it is about, what you will use to make it, who is doing what, how you plan to work together, etc.
The video I made is about the bahamas. I went there last spring break with two of my friends. What I did was I meshed video with still pictures and recapped the vacation. I used the song bonnie and claudie because that was the spring break theme song. My thought was I could draw on people's emotions, they think 'wow they look like they had some great times with friends and it is a beautiful place' to make them want to go there. The movie was a minature advertisment for people to go to the bahamas for next spring break. I did the movie by myself....I used the movie maker from class to do it. I commented on the blogs below:

I decided to work on my own because of the limited amount of axcess I have to the university. I decided to create a video on the bahamas. I went there last spring break and had tons of videos and pictures ready to use for the project. The way I put the video together I tried to draw on the viewers emotions to convey the message. The video is suppose to say to the viewer, hey these guys had a so much fun and the place is beautiful I want to go there too! I started the project out with a beach scene and throughout the movie I played to theme song for the spring break 2006 (it is called Bonnie and Clyde). After showing serveral minuites of photos and movie clips I ened with a slide enticing people to go to the bahamas for spring break 2007. I have never used the movie maker before and decided to just play around with the tools. I found lots of transitions from picture to picture and learned how to alter the photo's using particualr effects. By the end of the project I had a handle on transitionaing and using effects to help visual deliver my intended message. I also used the split action where I took a jauguar video split it a a point, insterted a picture and then continued to play the video. I also learned how to trim a video clip.

What do graphic design and page layout have to do with contemporary literacy and learning?
Today's students are bombarded with colors, lights and catchy phrases in everyday life. Graphic design and page layout will help the students enjoy literacy and learning more because it is designed for their target market. Having colors or pictures draw a student's attention will help the student become more engaged with the topic they are reading. Learning needs to be made fun and interesting and graphics and layouts can do that for the readers. The tools will help you "sell" literacy and learning to the student as a valued item. I agree with jim that as a teacher I can use the graphics to reach the visual learners and bring the materials to life. As I am an up and coming teacher I think it is very important for me to focus on not only the student's content need but their learning needs and learning stlye needs as well. With the page layout and graphic the students are able to start making connections between the content of the text and the images on the page, this helps the learner confirm and conceptualize the literature.
